George Barcarse, Jr.
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA - CHAPEL HILL
Bachelor of Science - Nursing
“I participated in an after-school program called Duke Area Health Education Center (AHEC), where we talked and interacted with professionals from a variety of healthcare fields about their careers and journey. I completed an EMT program at my high school and obtained my EMT license, which was one of the most enjoyable and enriching experiences in my academic career. I graduated high school as valedictorian in my cohort, and I’m currently enrolled at UNC-CH’s BSN program, where we actively learn and apply evidence-based practice and care in our clinical rotations, going above and beyond for our patients.” “For me, becoming a nurse will allow me to give back to the community that helped raise me and took care of my family even in our hardest, trying times.” “Duke Credit Union has been there for my family, allowing us to save our money and invest wisely to make the most of our money. I was raised to appreciate and be grateful for the things we have, and not to take anything for granted.”

La'Quinta Boone
UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX
Bachelor of Science - Management
“My career aspirations are not just about earning a living but making an impact through the work that I do. As a current employee for Duke Clinical Research Institute, I aspire to build a career in Clinical Research to support patient advocacy in recruitment/retention for study protocols and data analysis. My love and passion for science and healthcare has been my biggest motivation in pursuit of elevating my work performance and academic studies.”
“Without the support of Duke Federal Credit Union, my options to return to school for career advancement and other goals would not have been a possibility. I am grateful to be a member. The support provided by the representatives throughout the years has been invaluable.” |

Joseph Cubilete
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA - CHARLOTTE
Bachelor of Science - Criminal Justice
“I joined the military shortly after graduating, driven by a desire to serve my country and to find purpose beyond myself. During my years of service, I advanced in rank, led teams under pressure, and developed a strong sense of responsibility. I learned how to work with people from all walks of life and to advocate for others—skills that align closely with the legal field.” “I am especially passionate about criminal justice reform and advocating for underserved communities. I want to be the kind of lawyer who gives a voice to those who often go unheard.” “Duke Credit Union has been a stable and trusted support system for my family for years.” |
